Liisa Anttila, two-time Venla winner from Tampere KooVee, pulled her team to the lead on the second leg. Anttila pushed to the lead after having been 3.5 minutes behind and positioned 45th. Another team to rise to the fight for gold was Asikkalan Raikas as Kirsi Vanhalakka arrived to the changeover 1.52 minutes behind Anttila. The remaining legs for Asikkala are run by Sirkka-Liisa Huusari and Minna Kauppi who is without question one of Finland's top orienteers. Liisa Anttila says she had some trouble finding one of the controls but otherwise the leg went well. IF Thor's Annica Gustafsson ran with Anttila for a while but was left behind. "This was standard risk-free relay orienteering. Being precise is important when running a middle leg", analyses Anttila.
