Asikkala leads the anchor leg

The third leg of Venla Relay was full of drama as Swedish OK Linne, the first to arrive at changeover, was disqualified for having punched the wrong control. Lina Bäckström from OK Linne and Sirkka-Liisa Huusari from Asikkalan Raikas both first visited the wrong control point but Huusari corrected her error.

Therefore Asikkalan Raikas, second to arrive at changeover, was in the lead giving Minna Kauppi, member of the Finnish national team, an excellent position to start from.

Asikkala was followed by Swedish teams OK Skogsfalken and IF Thor. Tampereen KooVee was 4th, only just over a minute behind Asikkala.

Huusari lost more than a minute looking for the second-last control but was otherwise satisfied with her run.
