The first 1000 orienteers have registered to the Virkiä Jukola. There are competitors from 7 different countries, most of them from Finland. Registration has been even faster than in the Salo Jukola where the 1000 registrations point was passed a couple of days later than in the Virkiä Jukola. We are still expecting for more than 10 000 registrations by the beginning of June. The number of participants in the 2006 Salo Jukola was 13 018, and they were from twenty different countries.
And in keeping with the Jukola tradition, the number of registered volunteers is lagging behind. We are aiming at 500 volunteers. But we're not worried yet: when the snow starts to melt, the volunteers usually wake up and start registering.
