The official controller of the Virkiä Jukola, Mr. Arvo Kantola, visited Lapua on January 15th to check out the situation. A four-hour course inspection with course setters Mr. Petri Saari and Mr. Heikki Hautala was enough to convince Mr. Kantola that the Simpsiö grounds and their courses are in excellent condition for the Jukola and Venla relay. - The course setters have done a very good job. The courses are interesting and will surely provide an exciting race all the way to the last meters, says Arvo Kantola. Mr. Kantola did point out that because the starting area is fairly small, the racers will disappear into the woods very quickly and can therefore only be seen by the audience for a minute or two. On the other hand, this gives more time to the actual orienteering. In the meeting following the course inspection Mr. Kantola noted that preparations are going as planned. The broadcasting schedule shall be checked out during January and invitations sent to the previous year’s teams that participated in the Salo Jukola.
